Odisha CM Mohan Majhi unveils Odia New Year Calendar at Puri Srimandir

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) introduced its calendar for the forthcoming Odia New Year in Puri on Sunday, keeping tradition at its heart.

As per reports, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi played a pivotal role at the launch event, commencing the proceedings following the darshan of the Holy Trinity at the Srimandir.

The Odia New Year calendar was earlier dedicated to the deity, an important ritual marking its readiness for public distribution. Subsequently, CM Majhi officially unveiled it amidst much anticipation.

Designed to inform and guide devotees, the calendar meticulously outlines the temple's festival dates and ritual timings. The price of the calendar has been fixed at Rs 100.

Dignitaries Present at Ceremony

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan and Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari were present on the occasion. SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, along with senior officials and some temple priests were also in attendance, underscoring the ceremony's significance.

"Odia New Year will be celebrated tomorrow. I extend good wishes to all the Odias on this holy occasion. The Odia New Year calendar has been unveiled for public today. It has been dedicated to the deities. All our festivals, holy rituals and auspicious works are celebrated based on the meticulous outlines of the Odia New Year calendar," said CM Majhi.

Pana Sankranti, also known as Maha Vishuba Sankranti, marks the traditional New Year in the state of Odisha. In Odisha, the festival is deeply rooted in agrarian traditions and is a vibrant mix of devotion, seasonal rituals, and community bonding.
