Deogarh Police has cracked the minor girl kidnap case following the arrest of four accused.

In an exclusive interview with OTV on Sunday, Deogarh SP Pradyumna Mishra said the miscreants had kidnapped the girl with an intention of extorting money from the family.

“The kidnap case was a challenge for us. Immediately after receiving the complaint, I formed teams of selected officers. All the exit points were immediately sealed. Sensing that the police were behind them, the miscreants sneaked into Sundargarh. There, they contacted a hotel to spend the night but the hotel owner didn’t allow them as they couldn’t produce any proof of identity,” said Mishra.

“By then, our team had already reached Sundargarh town. Fearing apprehension, the miscreants holed up somewhere. We carried out raids. Later, they left the girl at Badagaon and fled from the spot. Within ten hours, we rescued her and handed her over to the family,” he added.

Informing about the intention of the kidnappers, Mishra said, “As we promised, we have arrested all the four accused involved in the case. During interrogation, they said they had kidnapped the girl with a plan to collect ransom money from her family. But they didn’t call any of the family members fearing that the police might trace them out.”

The police have seized the car and two bikes used in the crime.

On Monday evening, after attending her tuition classes, the victim was returning home with her grandmother. As they were nearing the State Bank Chhak, two miscreants on a motorcycle stopped near them. Before the girl’s grandmother could understand anything, they pushed her aside, picked up the girl, and fled from the spot.
