Odisha BJP plans grand welcome for NRIs during Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

The Odisha BJP, led by Manmohan Samal, plans a grand NRI welcome at Biju Patnaik International Airport for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in January, with events promoting Odisha's goodwill. The visiting NRIs are anticipated to enjoy the hospitality for which the people of Odisha are renowned, potentially marking a significant moment for the State.

The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to accord a grand welcome to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar during the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention, BJP state president, Manmohan Samal said on Monday.

Samal urged all BJP Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and party members to ensure a warm and memorable reception for the visiting guests. The party will observe the mega event with pomp and grandeur to uphold Odisha’s goodwill.

As part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, an initiative focused on promoting cleanliness, the BJP will engage in cleanliness drives during the stay of the NRIs in the State. The BJP will organise (Padyatras) scheduled to take place across 30 districts on January 7-8. Additionally, a grand welcome is also planned for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport on January 8 evening.

The visiting NRIs are anticipated to enjoy the hospitality for which the people of Odisha are renowned, potentially marking a significant moment for the State. The BJP has called upon the citizens to actively participate in making the event, which runs from January 8 to 10, a success.

“Not only the BJP but 4.5 crore people of Odisha will welcome the NRIs, who will come from around 160 countries, on a grand scale during the three-day event. This will be a turning point and with the help of citizens the cleanliness drive will be carried out,” Samal said.

Worth mentioning, that more than 10,000 guests, including around 7,000 NRIs, are expected to join the convention. This occasion is not only a testament to India's enduring ties with its global Diaspora but also an opportunity to exhibit the unique cultural tapestry of Odisha.
