Notorious criminal injured in police encounter in Dhenkanal
A notorious criminal has been injured in police encounter at Mangalpur area in Dhenkanal on Wednesday. The notorious criminal has been identified as Debashis Behera, widely known by his alias 'Hund'.
During the operation, Hund has reportedly sustained gunshot wound in his leg. As per reports, Dhenkanal Sadar police chased Hund and shot at him while he was going for a planned murder in the area.
Debashis Behera, a figure of significant infamy in the region, has been involved in over 20 criminal cases. These include severe charges such as murder, theft, and dacoity, marking him as a key target for local law enforcement. His leadership of the 'King of Forest Gang' has been attributed to a series of criminal operations that have troubled the area for some time.

The activities of Hund and his gang have reportedly left a considerable mark on the local communities, instilling fear and uncertainty among residents. Police efforts continue as they aim to dismantle networks linked to Hund.
Earlier before a week, two notorious criminals were injured in a police encounter in the Indranipatna area of Choudwar in Cuttack. The joint operation was carried out by the Choudwar Police and the Special Squad, targeting individuals with extensive criminal backgrounds.
The accused have been identified as Subhrajit Parida alias Jubula and Sangram Rout alias Katas, both of whom have long criminal histories.
