KIIT Nepali Girl Student's Death
The last rites of 18-year-old Nepali student Prisha Sah, who was found dead in her hostel room at KIIT University on Thursday, are scheduled to be conducted at Swargadwar in Puri on Saturday, informed authorities.
The deceased’s grieving family, who had flown in from Nepal, will perform her final rites even as officials continue to investigate the circumstances leading to her death.
Sah's body was sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for a post-mortem examination. As of the last reports, the procedure is being conducted by a three-member medical team under tight security and in the presence of an executive magistrate, a tehsildar, and officers from the Commissionerate Police.
A forensic team is also present for the autopsy, which is being videographed for transparency. After the post-mortem, the body will be handed over to the family, said Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police Additional DCP Prakash Pal.
According to her parents, Prisha had spoken to them over the phone around 3:00 pm on the day of her death and had seemed normal.
Just hours later, they were informed that their daughter had died by suicide. The abruptness of the incident has shocked the family, who say she had shown no signs of distress.

Commissionerate Police are treating the case with seriousness. Ten people, including Prisha's roommates and nearby hostel mates, have been questioned. Police have seized her mobile phone, laptop, and other personal belongings, which have been sent for forensic examination.
It is worth mentioning that the death of Prisha Shah marked the second incident involving the death of a Nepali student at KIIT in just three months. On February 16, Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B.Tech student, was also found dead under suspicious circumstances.
