Odisha’s political landscape is experiencing heightened tensions as Crime Branch summoned the Naba Kishore Das’ daughter Dipali and son Bishal in connection with murder probe of the late BJD leader and former minister, sources said on Saturday.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) articulated that Dipali has been vocally expressing her opinions in the media, regarding the investigation’s trajectory. If Dipali and Bishal find the probe inadequate, they should formally present their grievances to the Crime Branch, the BJP suggested the bereaved family.
“What we learned from the media and what they (Crime Branch) also said, it would be better to reopen the case. If they have found any shortfall in the probe, let them point out those. If they are not satisfied, they may do what they think proper,” Khallikote BJP legislator Purna Chandra Sethi stated.
Conversely, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) advocated for the legal process to proceed unhindered to ensure truth prevails. Law will take its course, the BJD reacted.
“I have complete faith in the law and probe agencies. There should not be any political vindictiveness. Truth must come to the fore and law should be allowed to work in its own way,” Rajnagar BJD MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo expressed.
Meanwhile, Congress has expressed concerns over the efficiency of the anti-crime agency’s efforts, calling for handover of the probe to either a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for more comprehensive inquiry.
“Crime Branch had previously conducted a detailed probe but why was there a silence thereafter, for such a long time. We demand a SIT or CBI probe. The wrongdoer must be brought to justice,” Basudevpur Congress MLA Ashok Kumar Das stated.
