Naba Das’ blood-stained shirt burnt even as Covid-19 rules already lifted: Report

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

In the Naba Das assassination case, crucial evidence, including a bloodstained shirt, was allegedly destroyed by hospital authorities citing Covid-19 protocols, despite guidelines being lifted months prior.

In a dramatic development in former minister Naba Das's assassination, reports point towards the destruction of crucial evidence, likely to mislead the case. Hours after a shirt (evidence) of a witness was allegedly replaced, latest reports indicate that Das' bloodstained shirt after being shot was also burnt.

If reports are to be believed, the shirt was burnt by the hospital authorities where Naba Das was admitted after getting shot. While authorities claim, the blood-soaked shirt, which was crucial evidence, was burnt as part of Covid-19 protocols, reports suggest otherwise.

Apparently, the Covid-19 guidelines had already been lifted in Odisha when Naba Das was assassinated. Odisha's health department lifted Covid guidelines on November 19, 2022, while minister Das was murdered on January 29, 2023, nearly two months later, making the justification based on Covid-19 protocols highly questionable.

In a letter dated 19/11/2022, the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha repealed Covid-19 regulations and wrote, “In view of the substantial view of Covid-19 cases in the state over the past several months, Government after careful consideration have been pleased to repeal the ‘The Odisha Covid-19 Regulation, 2020” as amended from time to time with immediate effect.”

It further read, “Covid appropriate behaviour is advised to be practised voluntarily by citizens as and when found necessary.”

Now the Question is:
- Who had ordered to burn the crucial evidence- the shirt?
- Was the shirt burnt as per the direction of the Crime Branch?
- Was the shirt burnt as part of a conspiracy to erase evidence?
- Is the hospital also involved in the conspiracy?
- Who are the big shots involved in the case who made sure to destroy every piece of evidence?
