The Crime Branch team, investigating the brutal assassination of Odisha health minister Naba Kishore Das, is yet to pinpoint the exact motive behind the prime accused and suspended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gopal Krishna Das resorting to such extreme.

Meanwhile, a special Medical Board has been constituted to study the mental health of the accused.

"The Forensic Psychological Assessment and LVA Test of accused Gopal Krishna is being conducted by the team of CFSL, New Delhi at Jharsuguda," said Crime Branch in a release.

Crime Branch sources said that all the documents recovered so far from the paternal house of accused Gopal Das at Industrial Estate, Berhampur and Govt quarter at Jharsuguda are being scrutinized.

A detailed investigation is also underway to ascertain the financial details of the accused, his wife, brother, and other close relatives.

On the other hand, the accused was produced in the Court of JMFC, Jharsuguda after the completion of the first four days remand period. The Crime Branch team hopes to extract more information from the interrogation of Gopal Das as the court has allowed another four days of remand.

Based on the disclosure of the accused, the Crime Branch had earlier recovered 22 pieces of papers from the sewage tank and the chits have been sent to the Handwriting bureau for examination and necessary opinion.
