Mystery shrouds death of Odisha govt Junior Engineer in Cuttack

A cloud of mystery hovers over the death of Ajay Samal, a junior engineer associated with the Narasinghpur Block in Cuttack district, after his body was discovered at his quarters within the block premises earlier on Saturday. 

Allegations have been brought by his brother, suggesting that Ajay was under huge pressure and was coerced into sanctioning fraudulent financial documents.

“My brother can’t commit suicide. He was under severe pressure for the last one year. He was forced to sign on false bills,” said the deceased’s younger brother Arun Samal.

Samal was working in the Narsinghpur Block for the last three years. Responding to the severity of the allegations, Athgarh SDPO has confirmed that a thorough investigation will be initiated to ascertain the veracity of these claims.

The body of the Junior Engineer was found hanging at his government quarters. However, the exact reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained. 

Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and are in the process of gathering evidence to get a clearer picture of the events leading to his unfortunate demise.

“The investigation is at the preliminary stage and we can’t tell anything about it now. The exact reason behind the death could only be ascertained after further investigation,” said Athgarh SDPO Rabindra Kumar Mallick.
