Murder suspect consumes poison fearing arrest in Bhadrak
A murder suspect at Chudamani village under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district consumed poison upon spotting approaching police officers, fearing arrest for his alleged involvement in a gruesome crime.
As per reports, the individual had been evading police since allegedly killing his girlfriend by slitting her throat at Lingapada village under Soro block in Balasore district. The deceased was identified as Jyotirmayee Rana (25).
In response, police formed as many as four teams to track down the suspect, focusing their search efforts across various locations.
As per sources, recent intelligence directed police to a forested area near Talasahi in Basudevpur. This morning, as officers closed in, the suspect took the drastic measure of consuming poison.
Swift medical response
The police acted promptly, initially taking the suspect to a medical facility in Basudevpur before transferring him to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
Notably, the accused allegedly slit Jyotirmayee’s throat when she refused to accept his marriage proposal.

The woman's mother claimed that her daughter was killed despite filing a complaint against a man at Soro police station three days ago about harassment.
Sources at Soro police station said that it does not have an office-in-charge at present following the transfer of the former OC.
An official at the hospital where the woman was taken after the attack said that her throat was slit using a sharp weapon.
