After its early onset over Odisha, the progress of the southwest monsoon into other parts of the state has been sluggish. As a result, severe humid conditions are now prevailing during the ongoing Raja festival in the state.
As per by India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, similar conditions are likely to continue in the State for the next couple of days. There will be no major changes in the weather conditions till June 18, said IMD.
The coastal districts of the State will mainly experience intense hot and humid conditions during the period. The maximum temperature is likely to register a fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius after two days.
Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar has predicted that the southwest monsoon may advance in some more parts of Odisha in the next four to five days. Under its impact, many parts of Odisha will experience rainfall activities from June 18-19 onwards.
IMD has further predicted that some parts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam may experience Nor'wester-triggered rainfall activities in the next 24 hours.
