Miscreants struck Panijharia Government Primary School of Mahulia Panchayat under Chandbali Police limits in Bhadrak district on Friday night and decamped with money, stationery items, and some important documents. 

The teachers found the school to have been burgled on Saturday morning. When headmistress Urmila Sahu, teachers, and other staff reached the school, they found the doors of the office room and adjacent rooms partially opened and locks lying on the ground. 

The headmistress immediately informed the committee members and the block education office (BEO) about the incident. Later school chairperson, Swarnalata Bej informed the police about the incident.

“When we reached in the morning, we found the doors of the office and other rooms half-open. Suspecting theft, we informed the committee members and the block education office (BEO),” said headmistress Sahu. 

Informing about the incident, school chairperson Bej said, “I came to know about the incident from the headmistress. She informed me that the doors of the office and other rooms were broken open and the locks lying on the ground. When I reached the school, I found the headmistress’ statement to be true. Then we informed the police."

On being informed, a team from Chandbali Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation. 

It is worth mentioning that, three cases of robbery have been reported from the same Mahulia Panchayat in the last 15 days. Earlier, the Anganwadi centres at Pathargada and Panijharia villages were burgled.
