Road rage shooting in Bhubaneswar leaves one injured, admitted to AIIMS

A person sustained injuries in a firing that took place on Pitapali road under Infovalley Police limits in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The injured is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. His condition is reportedly stable.

The injured youth, Dipak alias Dipu, is in stable condition following treatment at AIIMS, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena. The incident took place on Saturday evening, raising concerns over public safety in the area.

Investigation Underway

As per reports, the attack was fuelled by road rage. Police have identified two brothers as the suspected perpetrators of the shooting. 

Both individuals remain at large, but authorities are actively seeking their capture. DCP Jagmohan Meena assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects swiftly.

Ongoing Investigation

“We are sparing no effort to capture those involved,” affirmed DCP Meena.

He further stated, “As per preliminary investigation, the attack was due to road rage. They had an altercation over giving way for their vehicle and got into an argument. Later, they called each other at midnight, 12:30. When the victim reached the spot, the two opened fire at him. The victim is now under treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. His condition is stable now.”

“We are making sure that he is given better treatment. We have identified the accused, and multiple teams are involved to nab them. They will be arrested soon,” DCP Meena told media persons.

Similar Incident

Earlier this month, another shocking incident of gun violence shook the capital city when an unidentified miscreant opened fire outside a popular bar in the Damana Square area of Chandrasekharpur.

As per reports, the firing took place in front of a bar, located near Damana Square, where a scuffle broke out between the assailant and the bouncers on duty. The situation escalated quickly, leading the accused to fire five rounds in public view. One of the bar's bouncers, identified as Suriya, sustained serious injuries in the attack.
