In a shocking incident, two transgender persons allegedly assaulted a traffic police personnel at the busy Gandhi Chhak intersection in Bargarh on Sunday. 

As many as two transgender persons have been detained in connection with the case.

As per sources, the transgender persons were seeking alms from motorists during a red light stop. When a traffic cop intervened them from begging, they allegedly dragged the officer from his police vehicle and physically attacked him. 

This dramatic scene has been recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the nearby area, and it drew considerable public attention.

In response to the disturbance, female police officers reportedly arrived promptly at the scene and apprehended two transgender individuals alleged to be part of the scuffle. Their questioning is currently underway as part of the investigation.

As per reports, some transgender persons allegedly torment motorists who refuse to give them money at the traffic post.

Transgender arrested in gold chain theft

Earlier in April this year, a transgender identified as Subhashree Pani was arrested from Jharkhand by the Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar in connection with a gold chain theft case at Niladri Vihar locality. After around ten months on the run, she was apprehended in Giridih district.

In July last year, Subhashree was implicated in the theft of a gold chain in Niladri Vihar locality of Bhubaneswar. Subsequently, the accused had fled from the State. A probe team successfully arrested Subhashree in Jharkhand and brought her to Bhubaneswar on a transit remand.
