Man ends life after ‘killing wife’: Video captured before suicide surfaces

A heart-wrenching event was reported from Seranga village in Gajapati district, where a man allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life. However, a purported video captured by the man to ventilate his feelings before ending his life by suicide surfaced on Tuesday.

According to sources, the man identified as Narendra Paika disclosed the reasons behind his drastic action in a purported video clip obtained by OTV. The couple had entered into a love marriage but was experiencing domestic turbulence.

Fallout of extramarital affair?

Initially marked by harmony, the relationship soured amid allegations of infidelity, with Narendra accusing his wife, Monika, of engaging in an extramarital affair.

Monika's body was discovered in their home the morning following the incident. Villagers later found Narendra dead in a nearby forest when they went to collect firewood for Monika’s funeral pyre.

On being informed, Seranga police reached the crime spot and initiated an investigation by registering two separate cases in this connection. Detailed probes are underway.

“When the manhunt for accused Narendra was underway, his body was found nearly a kilometer away from his house in the afternoon, while he was hanging from a tree in a cashew forest near Gaiba-Gumma road,” Gajapati district Superintendent of Police, Jatindra Kumar Panda, said when contacted.

“It appears that he (Narendra) has died by suicide. We have registered a U/d (unnatural death) case in this connection and initiated a probe. A DSP rank official is monitoring the investigation. We will come to know more about the incident after the probe progresses,” the SP added while speaking to OTV.
