According to sources, the fatal incident occurred, as tension flared up between two groups over a boundary wall construction. Members of a tribal community in the village were opposed to the construction, which led to a heated exchange. The altercation tragically resulted in the man's death on the spot, and two others sustained grievous injuries.

The injured are currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Cuttack.

“Around ten persons took him (the victim man) from our house by dragging him up to a compound wall nearby the house and severely beat him. Later, they fled from the spot soon after committing the crime. Dipi Jena, Prabhat, Susa, Ranjan and workers of Dipi including several others are involved in the crime,” the deceased’s wife Sabita Jerai said to OTV.

“They kicked him and severely beat him with a wooden plank. When I went there, they also threatened me with dire consequences saying ‘whoever will come to the spot will be killed’,” the deceased’s wife stated quoting the accused persons.
