On the last day of the DG-IGP Conference 2024 in Bhubaneswar, focus shifts to cybercrime, coastal security, and Maoist threats. PM Modi leads discussions with key officials.

On the final day of the All India DGP/IGP Conference 2024 in Bhubaneswar, critical discussions are underway over important issues concerning various states and the country. Taking place at the Lok Seva Bhawan, the final day of the Conference will see key discussions on cybercrime, coastal security, and combating Maoist insurgency.

The summit, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is likely to focus on determining a strategic path forward in combating the rise in cybercrimes, coastal security, and Maoist activities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the event, with the participation of Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, DGsP/IGsP of all States/UTs and heads of the CAPFs/CPOs physically and by officers of various ranks virtually from all states.

Throughout the two-day conference in Bhubaneswar, the conference has concentrated on national security hurdles, and internal security, particularly issues of terrorism and Naxal extremism. Plans to enhance national security, deter cybercrime, and manage Maoist threats are under rigorous review. Other pressing topics included narcotics control, coastal safeguarding, and financial security improvements.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Modi Prime Minister hailed the new criminal laws as a paradigm shift in the justice system. He emphasised the principles of 'Citizen First, Dignity First, and Justice First’. He urged police to shift from a 'Danda' approach to one driven by 'Data’, and creatively engage society to convey the laws' spirit. He directed to lay special emphasis on sensitising women about their rights and ensuring their safety, enabling them to work fearlessly ‘anywhere, anytime’.

Worth mentioning, both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah are scheduled to return to the capital, Delhi, this evening following the conclusion of the conference.
