Labourer dies as liquor-laden truck overturns in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur

In a distressing incident at Kujang area in Jagatsinghpur, a truck carrying liquor destined for Paradip overturned on late Monday night, resulting in the death of a worker and injuring the driver. 

According to sources, the labourer was in the truck for unloading purpose. He was tragically trapped beneath the vehicle when it overturned due to unknown reasons.

Upon being informed, Kujanga police rushed to the spot. Adequate police have been deployed at the spot, though the specific cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. The police are conducting an investigation to determine the specific circumstances that led to this fatal incident.'

Locals along with the police rescued the trapped labourer from beneath the vehicle. Unfortunately, the worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier in November last year, at least four persons died after a truck ran over a bike in Jabaknadi area near Jeypore in Koraput district.

The persons were travelling on the bike along NH-26 when the truck mowed the vehicle down. At least three among them died on the spot.

The injured person was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital in a critical condition. Later, he was shifted to Koraput District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated. However, he later succumbed to the injuries.
