Another Plus 3 girl student burnt alive under mysterious circumstances in Odishas Kendrapara
The investigation into the suspicious death of a Plus-3 student, who was found charred to death on Pattamundai of Kendrapara district last week, has taken a dramatic turn, with police intensifying questioning of her boyfriend and family members amid a swirl of new allegations.
According to reports, Kendrapara police, on Friday, detained the deceased student’s boyfriend from Chennai and brought him to an undisclosed location for questioning.
The move followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, who had accused him of mentally harassing and blackmailing their daughter.
In a parallel development, Kendrapara SP questioned the victim’s father, mother, and brother, reportedly confronting them with the boyfriend during interrogation. Police sources said the investigation has yielded several new angles, though officials have not disclosed details publicly.
Adding to the complexity, the boyfriend’s mother and sister have levelled a counter-allegation, claiming that the student was killed by her father. Police have not confirmed the authenticity of this claim, but said all leads will be examined as part of the probe.
As of now, there are two versions of the crime, with the victim’s family accusing her boyfriend of blackmail, harassment, and murder. On the other hand, the accused’s family has added this latest twist, claiming that the girl student was murdered by her father.
They also alleged that the deceased’s father had fabricated a blackmail story to trap the boyfriend and clear himself of the crime.
Reports added that forensic experts are expected to revisit the site for further evidence collection, and police may conduct face-to-face questioning of key witnesses to reconcile conflicting statements.
"We have obtained CCTV footage that shows crucial moments related to the incident. We are examining it. Appropriate action will be taken accordingly. We will release statements in this regard soon," said Siddharth Kataria, SP, Kendrapara.
Notably, the accused boyfriend had been absconding since the incident, but was tracked down by a special team. Investigators are probing whether his actions contributed to the student’s death, while also examining the possibility of foul play, given doubts over how she could have tied herself to a grill gate before the fire.
