Justice Harish Tandon to be next Chief Justice of Orissa High Court

Justice Harish Tandon will be the next Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Harish Tandon (Calcutta HC) as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.

The appointment was made against the vacancy which arose consequent upon retirement of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on January 19, 2025.

“Mr. Justice Harish Tandon was appointed as a Judge of the High Court at Calcutta on 13th April 2010 and has been functioning there since then. Mr. Justice Harish Tandon ranks at Sl. No. 7 in the All-India Seniority of High Court Judges, including Chief Justices. He is a senior puisne Judge in his parent High Court," the resolution read.

"Before his elevation as a Judge of the High Court, he practised in the High Court at Calcutta in civil matters. He has acquired extensive experience in dispensing justice. He is considered to be a competent judge and possesses a high level of integrity and conduct required of a person holding high judicial office,” it further read.
