Officials of the Income Tax Department conducted simultaneous raids on the offices of real estate company Stalwart Project Pvt Limited in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The raids were carried out at its offices in Saheed Nagar and Shailashree Vihar.
 
Though the reason behind the raids has not been confirmed by official sources, it was suspected to be a case of tax evasion. Besides, it is not clear how much money and what documents have been seized, even as the raids were underway till the last report came in. 

Sources said that the owner of the company, Sarat Sahoo is a close aide of an influential leader. Apart from that leader, Sahoo has been in the limelight in the past for his connections with several other prominent leaders of a political party.  It was alleged that he used to finance that particular political party.    

As per reports, the IT sleuths are interrogating the builder.

Though Sarat Sahoo was contacted over the phone, he did not pick up the call. 

This raid has come two days after the IT department seized around Rs 2 crore during a raid on a businessman’s house in Bhubaneswar.

The house and printing press of a businessman named Ranjit Jain at Budheshwari Colony in the Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar was raided. Moreover, GST officials had earlier raided the printing press.
