Illegal coal mining activities within Telendihi Reserve Forest in Sundargarh
Amid the investigation into the alleged coal mining activities within the Telendihi Reserve Forest in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, Union Tribal Affairs Minister has assured action after a detailed probe.
The Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and senior BJP leader from the district, Jual Oram has asserted that once the allegations of coal theft are proven, those accountable will face consequences, irrespective of their identity and clout.
"The allegation has already been reported by the media and now the government will seek detailed reports on the matter. Facts and figures in the alleged illegal mining will be verified and actions will accordingly be taken. Whoever is found guilty, no matter what his position is, will face action," said Oram.
Reportedly, the Deputy Director of the Mining Department of Odisha government and the Sundargarh Sub-Collector will visit the spot again to carry out the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Mining Department has lodged a formal complaint about the illegal coal mining activities within the Telendihi Reserve Forest under the Hemgiri police station limits.
Speculation is rife regarding the involvement of a renowned businessman from the Gopalpur area, potentially linked to a former politician's son. These allegations are under scrutiny as part of the broader investigation.
The Sundargarh district administration has reportedly mandated a comprehensive inquiry into these clandestine operations. All findings will reportedly be detailed in a report which is expected within three days.
To safeguard against further illegal activities, officials have reportedly been instructed to conduct thorough reviews of all coal depots in the area, ensuring accurate records of coal stocks.
