New Chief Information Commissioner
The Odisha Government has appointed retired bureaucrat Manoj Kumar Parida as the new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC). With this appointment, the State Information Commission receives a significant boost in leadership at a time when transparency and accountability in governance are gaining prominence.
Other Commissioners:
Joining him in the commission are two other distinguished individuals. Pranabindu Acharya, a retired IPS officer, has been appointed as a Information Commissioner. Known for his disciplined service in various key police roles, Acharya's presence is expected to enhance the Commission’s oversight capabilities.
In addition, Kalpana Pattnaik, a senior advocate of the Orissa High Court, has also been appointed as Information Commissioner. Her vast experience in legal practice and her in-depth understanding of constitutional and civil matters are likely to contribute significantly to the judicial strength of the body. Similarly, Pabitra Mandal has also been appointed as Informantion Commissioner.
“I am grateful to Odisha government for assigning me the role. My responsibility will be to ensure proper service and implementation of the RTI in the state. Whatever will be the challenges and problems, everything will be resolved,” said Acharya in his reaction to OTV.
With this newly constituted team, the Odisha Information Commission is poised to reinforce the Right to Information (RTI) framework in the state, ensuring greater responsiveness and efficiency in handling information-related grievances and appeals.
