The Odisha government on Friday appointed senior IAS officer Satyabrata Rout as the secretary of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
A 2013-batch IAS officer, Rout was serving as an Additional Secretary in the Works Department.
"Satyabrata Rout, IAS, Additional Secretary to Works Department, is appointed as Secretary, Odisha Legislative Assembly," a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department read.
Satyabrata Rout is a 2013-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who has been serving in various capacities in the Odisha government. Prior to his appointment as the Secretary of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Rout held the position of Additional Secretary in the Works Department of Odisha. His appointment comes at a crucial time, just ahead of the Budget Session of the Odisha Assembly, highlighting the importance of his role in facilitating the legislative process.
Upcoming Odisha Budget Session 2025
The Odisha Budget Session for 2025 is scheduled to be held in two phases, spanning a total of 28 working days. The first phase will run from February 13 to February 21, while the second phase will commence on March 7 and continue until April 5.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is set to present the State Budget for the 2025-26 financial year on February 17. The session will include discussions on the Governor's Address, General Discussion on the Budget, and the presentation of the Appropriation Bill.
Key Dates in the Budget Session
Several important dates mark the Odisha Budget Session 2025. The discussion on the Governor's Address is scheduled for February 14-15. The General Discussion on the Budget will take place on February 20 and 21.
The Demands for Grants – Budget will begin on March 10 and conclude on March 28. The Appropriation Bill for the 2025-2026 financial year will be presented on March 29.
