The East Coast Railway (ECoR) announced on Friday that three express trains will soon originate from Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN), a satellite station of the main Bhubaneswar Railway Station (BBS) at Master Canteen.

New trains to originate from Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN):

Aiming to reduce congestion and provide easier access to city residents living close to the Nandankanan-Raghunathpur-Patia stretch, the ECoR stated that the Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express, Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express, and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express will now originate from BBSN, with an additional halt at Mancheswar Station.

While the news has brought much-needed relief to railway passengers in the city’s north, the question remains whether everyone knows where the Bhubaneswar New (BBSN) Railway Station is located. To help, here is a quick guide detailing the station’s locale and its significance to regional connectivity.

How to reach BBSN:

Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN) is situated about 2km from Nandankanan Zoological Park. To reach this station, one must begin by road and arrive at Nandankanan Square. Subsequently, commuters will need to take a left turn and head straight for about 1.8km to Pada Sahi Road to reach BBSN.

Importance of Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN):

1. The Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN) is situated at about 15km from the Cuttack Railway Station (CTC) when approached from the Link Road-NH-16 route and about 17km from it when approached by the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Setu.

2. Similarly, it takes about 17 km of travel to reach Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN) from Bhubaneswar Railway Station (BBS) via the Master Canteen-Acharya Vihar-Patia route.

3. As such, the Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN) is located at almost the centre of the joint Bhubaneswar-Cuttack twin city, making it a suitable point of commute for passengers of both the cities, while reducing load on their main stations.
