Three express trains will soon originate from Bhubaneswar New Railway Station (BBSN), significantly improving connectivity for residents in northern Bhubaneswar and nearby areas, per a statement released by The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Friday. The notice detailed that the Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Konark Express, Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express, and Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity Express will start operating from BBSN, at a date that has yet to be announced.
Further, these trains will also halt at Mancheswar Station, easing access for commuters in northern neighbourhoods with the move expected to reduce congestion at the city’s main station while enhancing travel convenience.
Students: The station’s proximity to engineering and medical colleges in North Bhubaneswar makes it a strategic transit point for thousands of students.
Medical Travel: Improved access to hospitals in the area will benefit patients and caregivers.
Reduced Crowding: Shifting these services to BBSN is expected to lower footfall at the older Bhubaneswar Main Station, located in the city’s south.
