A violent clash between groups from Uttamapur and Shubhadrapur under Cuttack Sadar police limits left multiple injured during Dola Purnima. The conflict escalated from a verbal spat to stone pelting and weapon attacks.

A violent clash erupted late Thursday night between two groups from Uttamapur and Shubhadrapur under Cuttack Sadar police station limits, leading to multiple injuries on both sides. Sources reported that the conflict initially began as a verbal argument during the passage of the Dola Jatra procession. However, it soon escalated into a violent confrontation involving heavy stone pelting and attacks with deadly weapons from both sides.

Till the last reports came in, several individuals from both groups had sustained injuries that required hospitalisation. Meanwhile, police reached the scene and started an investigation into the incident. However, the authorities are yet to release any statement regarding the incident.

Police intensify security for Holi:

In related news, a total of 22 platoons of police personnel will be deployed across Cuttack city to maintain law and order during Holi celebrations, stated Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari. To ensure that the celebrations go incident-free, a security blanket has been provided to the city with several measures to curb anti-social activities.

Cuttack DCP also warned that strict action will be taken against drunk revelry and rash driving. In his announcements declaring safety measures for Cuttack in Holi, he advised residents of the Millennium City to complete festivities by noon to 1 pm.

Further, to prevent any untoward fatality, Cuttack police have also asked citizens to exercise caution and avoid bathing in the rivers after Holi celebrations, with several personnel keeping vigil over sensitive areas.
