Odisha’s Udipta Rath has come a long way and achieved what others can only dream of at a young age. From performing stunts on road to an international racer, Udipta’s journey on and off track is no less than a roller coaster ride, yet, enough to inspire the young generation.
In an exclusive interview, Udipta said that he started professional racing from 2015 and participated in national championship and later in Malaysian championship with a 600cc bike.
“The championship didn’t happen due to Covid and I had participated as a test rider in 2021 and now I am looking forward for the June championship,” said Updipta.
I Miss Stunts
According to Udipta, he still misses the old stunts which he used to perform. But at the same time, racing is also amazing, quipped the international racer from Odisha.
Journey So Far…..
Recalling his journey so far, Udipta said that there were many ups and downs in his life in the past eight to nine years and it hasn't been a smooth ride. “I am not doing this for anybody. But I took it up as a challenge for myself as nobody from India had done it in the past and I wanted to do it,” said Udipta.
Message To Youngsters Doing Stunts
Stunts are certainly dangerous if done without supervision and proper awareness, said Udipta while ruing that there is lack of proper riding education. However, the Commissionerate Police is doing well to put a check on such incidents on busy roads in Bhubaneswar.
“Several powerful superbikes are available in the market and there is always a risk that 18-year-olds or 19-year-olds will be reckless when they are handed a 1000cc bike. But there should be regular awareness and such stunts should not be done on busy roads,” appealed Udipta.
According to Udipta, the bikers doing stunts on roads are causing harm to the profession. There is always a better way and place to do it with proper education and safety, he added.
