Accident
Four people died after a four-wheeler vehicle crashed into a tree while returning from a temple visit in Chatra, Jharkhand. Among the deceased was the newly married wife of Home Guard Rashmikant Sahu, who is posted at Raiboga Police Station in Sundargarh district.
As per reports, his mother-in-law and two others also lost their lives in the accident. Home Guard Rashmikant Sahu and two other passengers sustained serious injuries. The crash occurred less than a week after Sahu's marriage on the 20th of this month. The victims included one man and three women. Seven people were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident, which left the front section of the vehicle completely crushed.
In Bhadrak district of Odisha, a man carrying his thalassemia-affected son to a hospital for a blood transfusion met with an accident after a vehicle belonging to an Odia Jatra troupe hit their scooter. The collision occurred near the Asurali petrol tank. The father, Ashok Sahu from Nadigaon under Dhusuri Police Station, and his son were seriously injured.
Following the accident, they were transported by the opera manager to Bhadrak district hospital. Bapi Panda, an advisor to the Jatra artists and employees association, later visited them. Allegations have emerged that the Jatra troupe vehicle lacked mandatory insurance and a fitness certificate. Authorities have not yet commented on the compliance status of the vehicle or any potential action against the troupe.
In another case in Bhadrak, a mini truck transporting cattle met with an accident while allegedly trying to escape after spotting the police. The mini truck crashed into a culvert at the RD road, Asurali market, and overturned onto a roadside field. The accident resulted in the deaths of the truck driver and three cows. Dhusuri police reached the scene and rescued the remaining cattle.
Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
