Fake liquor manufacturing unit busted in Cuttack

The Excise Department on Thursday busted a fake foreign liquor manufacturing unit at Choudwar area in Cuttack district. Officials of the department have seized liquor manufacturing materials, and counterfeit labels and stickers of premium brands during the raid.

As per reports, as many as two persons have been arrested in this connection. Following a tip-off, the officials of the department targeted the illicit operation located within Dhoomavati Colony in Ward No. 9.

As per reports, during the operation, two suspects were detained for further investigation. Officials confiscated a range of items used in the fabrication of fake liquor. These included machinery, various chemicals, bottles, caps, and imitation labels purporting to be those of established brands.

It is alleged that the premises were rented and managed by a youth identified as Joy Subham, originally from Bihar, who remains at large. The Excise Department officials are yet to nab the primary suspect.  As per sources, effort is currently underway to nab Subham.

The operation underscores growing concerns about the proliferation of counterfeit alcohol in the region, prompting calls for heightened vigilance from both authorities and the community.

Similar Incident

Earlier in January this year, the Excise Department had busted a fake foreign liquor manufacturing unit at Boden area in Nuapada district and seized a huge quantity of counterfeit liquor.

As many as four accused individuals were arrested in connection with the case and forwarded to court.
