Fake edible oil packaging unit busted in Odisha’s Berhampur 

Police and the food safety unit of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) jointly busted an adulterated edible oil packaging unit in the fifth lane of Gajapati Nagar area under Bada Bazaar Police limits on Tuesday. 

As per reports, acting on a tip-off, Bada Bazaar Police and BeMC’s food safety unit conducted raids on a house located in the Bada Bazaar area.

During the investigation, it came to the fore that the owner of the unit was adulterating mustard oil by adding its essence to rice bran oil. Then the adulterated mustard oil was packaged in packets having the names of fake brands.

Besides adulterated mustard oil, fake sesame oil and coconut oil were also found packaged in plastic bottles. 

During the investigation, it was also known that the unit was running with fake trade and food licenses. 

A detailed investigation is underway.
