CM Mohan Majhi attends the 71st All India Cooperative Week celebrations
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Thursday attended the 71st All India Cooperative Week celebrations in Bhubaneswar and warned those creating disturbances in the functioning of the cooperative societies in the state.
“The government has kept a close eye on these ‘disturbance elements’ hampering cooperative society. We will not spare them to accomplish our mission of a peaceful cooperative society,” the CM said.
“We have Jharpada jail for those who try to cause damage to the cooperative society. We are people’s government and will not spare anyone who comes in between our work for the people,” the CM warned.
He also came down heavily on the Naveen Patnaik-led previous BJD government over ‘fake promises’ to farmers.
“The previous BJD government failed to keep its promise made to paddy farmers in Sohela (Bargarh) that it would give Rs 100 as bonus over and above the minimum support price (MSP). But, our government is taking all necessary steps to release additional input subsidy of Rs 800 per quintal of paddy to farmers,” the CM assured.
As per reports, the Odisha government has made necessary arrangements to ensure hassle-free paddy procurement which is likely to begin on November 20 in Bargarh district followed by Sambalpur on November 22. Subsequently, the procurement is expected to be done in all districts across the state.
