Elderly woman mauled to death by stray dog in Balasore

An elderly woman was mauled to death by a stray dog at Jayanarayanpur village under Bhograi block in Balasore district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Basanti Sahu.

As per reports, the rabid dog pounced on Basanti and bit her several times when she was sitting outside her home. She died on the spot.

Following the incident, the villagers chased and beat the rabid dog to death.

A pal of gloom has descended in the area following the death of the elderly woman in this tragic manner.

The villagers have demanded help from the government for the family of the deceased.

In response to the demand, the local Tehsildar has assured to send a team to the spot for an inquiry into the incident.
