Cyclone Dana: Pucca houses will be provided to people who lost houses, says Odisha Minister

After reviewing the situation post-Cyclone Dana, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said that the ‘zero casualty’ target set by the State government has been achieved.

Odisha CM Mohan Majhi reviews situation post-Cyclone Dana

The Odisha government while feeling complacent about achieving 'zero casualty' target has announced that people whose houses have been damaged due to Cyclone Dana will be provided pucca houses.

After reviewing the situation post-Cyclone Dana, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi said that the ‘zero casualty’ target set by the State government has been achieved.

“With blessings from Lord Jagannath, Cyclone Dana has weakened and we have become successful in tackling the cyclone. All the roads blocked with trees will be cleared and electric supply will be restored in all the areas by evening. As many as 6,000 pregnant women were shifted to hospitals and 1,600 babies were born,” said CM Majhi.

“The district Collectors have been directed to assess the damages post Cyclone Dana. Ministers of different departments are taking stock of the ground situation. The administration has accelerated rescue operations. All the Ministers are managing things on the ground. The rain will continue for some time. Electricity and road communication will be restored soon. People have started returning their houses and things will be completely under control soon,” he added.

Meanwhile, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Friday announced that pucca houses will be provided to people whose houses have been damaged due to Cyclone Dana. 

Pujari further informed that the field staff will estimate the damages of the houses and crops within a week.

“Power and telecom services have been restored at most of the places. The Health Department has done brilliant work. Those who want to stay in relief centers will be provided food overnight. If the weather permits, an aerial survey will be conducted on Saturday to assess the damages caused by Cyclone Dana,” said Pujari.
