Two fishing trawlers stranded in turbulent sea near Dhamra shore
As many as two fishing trawlers have been stranded in mid-turbulent sea after the completion of the landfall of Cyclone Dana on Friday.
Baitarani Balichara Maschyajibee Sanga has brought an allegation in this regard.
As per sources, though the fury of the cyclone has not subsided completely, the fishing trawlers embarked on a returning journey to West Bengal after getting permission from their owners. However, they were stranded in mid-turbulent sea as the weather turned hostile again.
As per the local fishermen, both the fishing trawlers might have stayed back to be in an advantageous position to start fishing.
However, it is yet to be ascertained how many fishermen are there in both the trawlers.
“One of the fishing trawlers might have floated into the turbulent sea as its anchor might have slipped or else it might have developed technical faults in the engine. The other trawler might have been stuck while trying to rescue the other one,” said Assistant Fisheries Officer, Dhamra, Sandeep Behera.
“No contact could be made with both the trawlers stuck amid the turbulent sea. It is expected that both the trawlers are from West Bengal. Efforts are currently underway by the marine police to rescue both the trawlers.
