Days after the gruesome murder of a minor boy at Purbakachh in the Jagatpur area of Cuttack, police claimed to have cracked the mystery on Monday, pointing out that unnatural sex was the reason behind the crime. Police arrested the accused identified as Jogendra Panda and seized a blunt wooden object, a sickle, and a blood-stained towel from the possession of the accused.

According to police, Jogendra is an alcoholic and forced the minor boy to have unnatural sex with him.  The accused admitted that hours before committing the crime he had unnatural sex with the boy inside an abandoned house in Purbakachh. As the boy threatened Jogendra that he would reveal the matter before his family, the accused killed the boy at night on December 16 by slashing his throat with a sickle.

Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said that Jogendra had been sexually exploiting the boy for a long time despite opposition from the victim. Police recreated the crime scene by taking the accused to the spot in the morning.
