Couple killed in road accident in Jajpur, 4-year-old child injured

A couple was killed and their four-year-old son sustained injuries in a road accident in Jajpur district on Saturday. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, the couple was travelling on a motorcycle with their four-year-old son, en route Kuakhia to Panikoili, when they were struck by an unidentified vehicle. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The wife tragically lost her life at the scene, despite efforts to save her. The husband succumbed to his injuries in hospital shortly after. Their son survived despite sustaining severe injuries. He is currently being looked after by the Panikoili Police.

Investigation Underway

So far, the identities of the deceased couple have not been officially confirmed. Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward with information that could aid in identifying the responsible driver, said sources.

Police have reportedly initiated a thorough investigation into the accident and are trying to trace the fled vehicle.

Earlier last year, a couple was killed after being run over by an unidentified vehicle near Palasuni area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The deceased couple from Sonepur district reportedly came to Bhubaneswar after having Lord Jagannath's darshan in Puri. They deboarded a bus at the chhak and were crossing the road when the vehicle hit them.
