Congress stalwart Jayadev Jena speaking to media
As Odisha wakes up to welcome the first dawn of New Year 2025, Congress party in the State aspires to position itself to tackle both challenges and ambitions head-on. Senior leader Jayadev Jena conveyed on Wednesday a hopeful outlook regarding the party’s performance in upcoming elections scheduled for 2025 and beyond up to 2029.
Despite enduring setbacks over the past years, Congressman Jena remains confident in a victorious future for the party.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is set to appoint a new president for the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) in Odisha. This move is intended to foster cooperation across various sectors, using perceived failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as leverage for advancement.
Criticism of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) by Congress surfaced, labelling the party as leaderless and directionless — a verdict Congress argues is creating discontentment among citizens.
The Congress party aims to capitalise on this scenario to bolster its position.
“New Year will witness a new chief of Congress in Odisha. The OPCC chief will be one who is capable of working in a team spirit. BJD has one leader and he is Naveen Patnaik, BJP has one leader and he is Narendra Modi, certainly no one from Odisha. However, Congress leaders in the State, starting from Niranjan Patnaik, Prasad Harichandan, Sarat Pattanayak, and whomever else you see, all are capable to work as a true leader,” Jena stated.
“The day when new Congress chief will be appointed, grassroots level workers and people in the State will start turning their faces towards Congress,” the party leader claimed.
Neither BJP nor the BJD has offered comments in response to Congress’s claims.
