CCL: Celebrity cricket stars enthrall audience at Barabati Stadium, ‘Odisha to have own team soon’

Historic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack was alive with excitement on Sunday as many celebrities of the cinema world took to the field for the much-anticipated cricket matches of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL). 

The opening game saw Punjab De Sher registering a thumping win against Bhojpuri Dabanggs. Opting to bat first against the Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Punjab De Sher set a formidable target of 206 runs. 

The Bhojpuri team’s line-up included notable personalities such as BJP Member of Parliament (MP) and Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari, along with renowned actors Pravesh Lal Yadav and other celebrated figures. 

In contrast, the Punjab team boasted talents like actor Karan Wahi, pop singer Harrdy Sandhu, and pop singer Babbal Rai, keeping the audience enthralled.

The second match at the Stadium will be played between Mumbai Heroes vs Bengal Tigers.  While Mumbai Heroes team features prominent stars like Sohail Khan, Samir Kochhar, and Mudassar, the Bengal side features popular Bengali film actors including Jisshu and Joy Mukherjee. 

Earlier in the afternoon, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, made a visit to the stadium, where he interacted with the players and took a tour of the facilities at the Barabati Stadium.

Meanwhile, popular Odia actor and politician Sidhant Mohapatra informed that Odisha might have a team in the league very soon.

“Odisha will have a team in the Celebrity Cricket League very soon. Or else, Bengal and Odisha might have a joint team in the league. We will put up the proposal before the CCL board soon. Finally, it has to be approved by the board,” said Mohapatra.
