Bomb hurled in Bhubaneswar; car showroom targeted, multiple vehicles damaged

A car showroom in Bhubaneswar's Shyampur area was targeted with multiple bombs, causing damage to vehicles but no injuries. The attack, captured on CCTV, is under investigation by Commissionerate Police.

A bomb attack rocked the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night, triggering panic and raising serious questions about the city’s law and order. However, no injuries have been reported so far.

According to reports, miscreants hurled multiple bombs at a car showroom in the Shyampur area under the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate Police. The incident occurred around 10:10 pm and was caught on CCTV.

Preliminary reports suggest that a group of nearly 10 to 12 individuals arrived in a car and launched at least five bombs at the showroom. The attack led to a fire, damaging several cars parked in the facility.

Sources also reported that the showroom owner has lodged a formal complaint, alleging deliberate vandalism and coordinated assault by the group.

CCTV Captures Bombing in Real Time

Visuals from the showroom’s CCTV cameras captured the moments of the attack, showing masked individuals flinging explosives and quickly fleeing the scene. The footage has become a crucial part of the ongoing investigation. It has been handed over to the law enforcement officials.

Police teams reached the spot shortly after the incident, conducted a site inspection, and collected forensic evidence. Investigators also examined the scale of the damage, tracking the vehicle used, and verifying the identities of the suspects.

Police Launch Probe, Security Tightened

Commissionerate Police have intensified security in and around the Shyampur locality following the attack. Multiple teams have been deployed for area combing and evidence collection. 

Notably, the brazen assault was carried out in a densely populated commercial zone and is being viewed as a direct challenge to the city’s law enforcement.

Residents Stunned, Demand Answers

Locals who witnessed the incident said the sound of explosions and sight of flames late at night caused widespread alarm. One young man who was present nearby described the incident as terrifying, noting that panic gripped the area in the immediate aftermath.

Initial assessments suggest that this was a planned act of violence intended to cause maximum disruption and property loss. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
