Blood-soaked body of former Sarpanch found in Bhadrak

A former Sarpanch and BJD leader was allegedly murdered while returning home after attending an ‘Astama Prahari’ programme at Bandhagan village in Bhadrak district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Chitta Ranjan Rout. Rout was also the former president of Ambaroli Cooperative Society.

As per reports, Rout had gone to attend an ‘Astama Prahari’ programme on Tuesday evening. However, he didn’t return home at night. Later, his blood-soaked body was found lying near a canal.

It was reportedly found that there were many wounds on the head and other body parts of Rout.

Considering the situation, local residents alleged that Rout has been murdered.

Upon being informed, Bhadrak rural police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. A scientific team is expected to reach the spot soon.

However, who killed Rout and the motive behind the alleged murder is yet to be ascertained.

As per local residents and family members, Rout was very popular in the area and he didn’t have any kind of enmity with anybody.
