Odisha Vigilance nabs Junior Assistant while accepting Rs 6,000 bribe

The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday apprehended a Junior Assistant (in charge of Accounts), at the office of Block Education Officer (BEO), Khordha while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000. 

The accused assistant has been identified as Pradipta Kumar Sahoo.

Sahoo was allegedly taking the bribe to release the bill of differential pay from the brother of a retired primary school teacher towards her incremental benefits.

"Sri Pradipta Kumar Sahoo, Junior Assistant (in charge of Accounts), office of BEO, Khordha has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance  while demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 6000/- from a complainant for facilitating release of bill of differential pay in favour of his sister who is a retired primary school teacher towards her incremental benefits," Vigilance said through a press release.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Sahoo. Following the trap, the Vigilance teams have launched search operations at one location of Sahoo from DA angle. 

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No 23/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Sahoo, Junior Assistant, the release read.
