Amidst the ongoing politics over CBI probe demand, BJP MP Pradeep Purohit on Sunday alleged that the family of the deceased minister Naba Das is being pressured by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
According to Purohit, if the family of late minister Naba Das submits written demand for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), it will cause trouble for two key figures from the BJD who might be implicated in the sensational murder case.
The BJD is reportedly discouraging Dipali Das from formally requesting a CBI probe from the Odisha government, claimed Purohit, stating that Dipali has been intimated against pursuing such an inquiry, with assurances.

Purohit speculates that the alleged pressure is intended to withhold the identities of two individuals- an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with aspirations to become the Chief Minister, and another prominent leader within the BJD.
“Those who wanted to become the Chief Minister were behind the murder of Naba Das. The way a cabinet rank minister was killed in broad daylight was unfortunate. The family members made a compromise then. During that time, BJP had said that a plot was created and it was projected that Gopal Das was the accused,” said Purohit.
Purohit further said that attempts were made by the BJD to suppress the matter as no effort was taken to unravel the conspiracy.
The murder case of Naba Das surrounding these allegations is of significant public interest. People of the state want to know who the persons are who used Gopal Das to kill Naba Das, said Purohit emphasizing the necessity for an investigation which can unravel the entire truth.
The BJP government in Odisha wants a detailed investigation into the Naba Das murder case and it is for this reason that the Crime Branch has issued notice to Dipali and her brother Vishal Das, he said.
“We want a detailed investigation and hence Crime Branch has issued notices to Dipali and her brother Vishal. The family members remained mum after the murder of Naba Das for two reasons, one was for political ambition and the other, to protect their empire. The real conspirators should have been arrested. But till now, no written submission has been made for a CBI probe. I believe that some prominent figures of BJD will be in trouble if the case is handed over to CBI. Due to BJD pressure, Dipali Das and her family are not making a formal request to the Odisha government for a CBI probe,” Purohit added.
Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the BJD or Dipali Das on the allegations of the BJP leader.
