In the aftermath of the stabbing incident in which three students sustained injuries, the authorities of Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar prohibited the entry of non students into the campus.

According to sources, the college authorities put up posters at all the entry points to the campus cautioning the outsiders from not entering the campus without any official purpose.

Moreover, the gate adjacent to the hostel has been locked up to ensure the safety and security of the inmates.

Meanwhile, the college authorities have formed an expert team for the installation of CCTV cameras on the campus and decided to write to the concerned department for wire fencing.

“We have closed the gate near the hostel following a meeting with the inmates. This will restrict the entry of outsiders. Besides, we will write to R&B division to fence the playground with barbed wire. Besides, we have formed an expert committee for the installation of CCTV cameras,” said BJB College principal Gulam Moinuddin Khan.

“We have been instructed to allow entry of students with uniform and ID cards into the campus. Similarly, we have been asked to note down the name, mobile number and vehicle number of outsiders in a register, who are visiting the college for official purposes,” said a security personnel deployed at the college campus.

Welcoming the decision of the college authorities, a student said, “The move will make the campus a safer place.”

Notably, as many as three students of the institution sustained cut injuries after being attacked by some miscreants following an argument over playing cricket on the college playground on Saturday.

The Commissionerate Police has so far arrested eight persons in connection with the case.
