OSSSC recruitment exam irregularities: Aspirants hit Bhubaneswar street
Alleging large-scale irregularities in RI and Amin examinations conducted by the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC), scores of aspirants under the aegis of Students Against Corruption on Monday staged a massive demonstration in Bhubaneswar.
Though the Revenue Minister had earlier ordered an investigation into the allegations, the aspirants went ahead with their agitation demanding action against the officials involved in such irregularities.
The Students Against Corruption launched a massive agitation and the meritorious students have decided to extend support to our demands, said a member of the outfit.
The aspirants alleged that a blacklisted company was selected to conduct the exam and they are demanding a detailed investigation into the matter. Our agitation is a warning to the Odisha government to take immediate steps to bring transparency in the conduct of the exams, said another aspirant.
“It is for the last 8 to 10 days, we have written to CM through Collectors in this regard. We had the exam on October 2 but at the centres, computers malfunctioned and we could not appear for the exam properly. There were also massive irregularities at Nayapalli exam centre in Bhubaneswar. There are scores of aspirants in Balasore and other parts and they cannot come to Bhubaneswar. We demand conduct of offline exam and handing over the conduct of the exam through a reputed organisation,” said a protestor.
“We only want transparency in the conduct of the exam as every minute is important for an aspirant. We demand cancellation of the exam as we are hearing that the posts are sold at Rs 14 lakh or Rs 18 lakh. The government should clearly state that the students need to pay to get jobs. If we have money we will prepare or else don’t appear. Several posts were lying vacant in the previous government and youths decided to change the government,” said an aspirant.
We had given an ultimatum of October 6 but as no step was taken, we were forced to stage a demonstration, the aspirants added.
