Design for the world-class railway station in Bhubaneswar
The Odisha government has reportedly granted permission to construct an elevated approach and exit road on the Master Canteen side of Bhubaneswar Railway Station as part of the ongoing station redevelopment project.
As per reports, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will allocate the land required for the construction of the elevated driveway. Further, the plan also includes the development of parking areas and commercial spaces within the station premises.
Bhubaneswar Railway Station Redevelopment Plan:
The approved elevated driveway includes plans for a road with entry from both sides, an air-concourse connecting all platforms, separate entry and exit points, lifts, escalators, a baggage security check-in area, an information centre, a food plaza, and a waiting room.

Notably, the redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station is part of the Indian Railways Amrit Station Scheme, aimed at providing a seamless, world-class travel experience for passengers. In view of this, the construction of several amenities as well as the upgradation of the existing structure is being done simultaneously.
The collaboration between the Railways and BDA aims to ensure smooth progress and the creation of state-of-the-art facilities for passengers.
The reports come along with the state government’s comprehensive infrastructure development plan worth Rs 7,000 crore to address traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar. Unveiled on Friday, the plans include the construction of an elevated corridor from Jayadev Vihar to the Nandankan Zoo.
