Bhubaneswar apartment robbers back: Six flats looted ahead of Durga Puja & Diwali festivities
As Bhubaneswar gears up for Durga Puja and Diwali festivities, a series of thefts in apartments has raised serious concerns about public safety in the state capital. Looters, who had earlier created terror in the Chandaka area, have once again struck, this time targeting residential apartments.
According to reports, miscreants on Wednesday night broke into two apartments in the Chandaka police station area during the day and looted valuables from nearly six flats. The stolen items include gold jewellery, cash running into lakhs of rupees, and other costly household articles.
What makes the incident more alarming is that the entire act has been captured on CCTV cameras installed in the premises. The footage shows the culprits moving from one flat to another, allegedly executing the break-in with precision.
Following complaints from residents, Chandaka police have launched an investigation and intensified search operations to nab the accused. Officials said the CCTV visuals will play a key role in identifying the culprits.
The spate of thefts has triggered panic among locals, with residents questioning the effectiveness of security arrangements in Bhubaneswar. As the city gears up for Durga Puja celebrations, citizens have urged the administration and police to tighten vigilance to ensure public safety.
