BEO threatens suicide at Bolangir DEO office over pending joining order
In a distressing turn of events, a Block Education Officer (BEO) threatened suicide at the Bolangir District Education Officer's (DEO) office over alleged negligence and inaction regarding his joining order.
Ranjit Bhoi, who was transferred from Deogarh district to Belpada block in Bolangir district three months ago, claims he is yet to receive a formal joining order from the DEO, despite repeated attempts.
According to sources, Ranjit has made several visits to the DEO office in the past three months but has not been permitted to assume charge. The current BEO of the Belpada block, Abhinav Mishra, is reportedly refusing to vacate the position, creating an administrative deadlock.
As a result, Ranjit Bhoi has not received his salary for the last three months, pushing him to a point of desperation.
As per reports, accompanied by the president of the Tribal Association, Ranjit visited the DEO office on Thursday and issued a suicide threat if his grievances continue to be ignored.
"I came here on May 16 with my joining letter. I have not received my salary for the last three months. My wife is a patient. I am going through a hard time and my family members are suffering. I have been fully shattered due to the current situation," said Ranjit Bhoi.

"I have requested the DEO to give me a joining order umpteen times. Despite many assurances by the DEO, I am yet to join in my job. Without having any alternative, I have threatened to commit suicide," he added.
No official response was received from the concerned DEO or the current BEO regarding the incident.
