Bargarh hospital in dock over ‘cardboard splint’ treatment for accident victims
Allegations of dubious treatment methods have emerged at the Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital, where accident victims are reportedly being treated with cardboard splints instead of Plaster of Paris before being referred to Burla for further care.
It is alleged that this makeshift 'desi jugaad' method has been in use for a long time. The medical authorities have not yet issued any official response on the matter.
As per sources, people of the district and neighbouring Chhattisgarh depend upon the hospital for treatment. The hospital functions in a huge building and has all kinds of modern health care facilities. However, the reported 'desi jugaad' treatment method at the hospital has appalled many patients in the areas.

Visuals of injured patients being secured with cardboard splints at the hospital have recently surfaced. As per the allegation by the patients, doctors are often remaining absent at the hospital and in their absence, attendants are using cardboard splints for the injured patients. Subsequently, these patients are referred to Burla for further treatment. Doctors at Burla are expressing their disappointments over the development.
As per medical experts, this kind of treatment is not at all acceptable at a hospital. Questions have been raised over the treatment procedure and intention of the medical staff at the hospital.
