Balasore DSP among 2 killed in fatal collision between car and truck in Jajpur

At least two persons were killed in a devastating accident at Chandpur square under Panikoili police station in Jajpur district on Sunday. 

The tragic accident reportedly occurred due to collision between a truck and a car in the afternoon.

Among the deceased is a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Balasore district, identified as Balaram Nayak. The other deceased has been identified as Krushna Chandra Nayak who was a relative of Balaram.

Both Balram and Krushna were returning from their hometown Ghatgaon in Kendujhar to Jajpur in the car when a truck hit their vehicle near Chandpur square. Both suffered serious injuries in the process. They were immediately rushed to Jajpur Headquarters Hospital. However, doctors declared them brought dead.

As per reports, the driver is on the run after the accident.

Upon being informed, Panikoili police reached the spot immediately and started an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident and identify possible safety infringements.

The accident has cast a shadow over the local community, with residents expressing grief over the loss of lives. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety within the region, prompting a call for enhanced measures to prevent similar tragedies.
